Looking to entertain your children during long stretches of rainy days or whilst on holidays? Here are some fun ideas for you.
Whoops Freddy!
Age suitability: 8+
One person picks a name, for example George. Each of you considers everyone you know called George – friends, relatives, neighbours, plus the likes of St George, George Clooney, George Bush, George Michael, Georgie Porgie and Curious George. Allow yourselves two minutes’ thinking time while you count up the Georges in your heads, then declare your final number and discuss each other’s lists. You’re also allowed to have a Whoops George. What this means is that you’re always able to declare at least one name, even if Ezekiel has been chosen!
Super Sevens
Age suitability: 10+
You will need: a deck of cards
Super Sevens is a card game, the aim of which is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Clear some space in the middle of the table. Deal out seven cards each and place the remaining pack face down. Player one places any seven in his/her hand face up in the centre. Let’s say the seven of hearts is played – player two can now play either the six or eight of hearts, placing it either to the left or right of the seven. If the six is played, then player three can add on either the five or the eight of hearts, etc.
Open up other lines of play by placing the seven of a different suit underneath the initial row. If you cannot play any card in your hand, pick up a card from the remaining stock. Once it is exhausted, simply knock and miss a turn if you can’t play. Tactics will become clear the more that you play the game.

Kids love having their friends over for the occasional pyjama party and you’ll find that by making use of these two fun pyjama party games during the event will help to keep everyone happy and involved.Nosey Ball:
Fun pyjama party games must involve something that gets everyone giggling and Nosey ball is it. Everyone taking part in the race will pretend to be an animal and push a ping pong ball to the finish line with their nose.
For these pyjama party games you’ll need ping pong balls for everyone and you’ll need a start line and a finish line. This can be set up with masking tape, string or a chalk line. Nosey Ball players can have a little trouble keeping in a straight line so you’ll want to space everyone a good distance apart. The first to push their ping pong ball across the finish line wins.
Tasty Buds:
The practice of holding an unusual taste test activity during pyjama party games is fairly common but still a fun and interesting way to pass the time, especially for the players who will be taking part in the taste test. For the game you’ll need blindfolds for each of the pyjama party games players and a selection of several different drinks. For yourself, you’ll need paper and pencil.
During the game the players will put on their blindfolds and sample the first drinks. Each pyjama party player will call out to you what they think the drink is. Try lots of different foods and liquids for your taste test such as: chocolate milk, lemon juice, coffee, gravy, soy sauce and soda. The pyjama party games player who guesses the most correctly is the winner.
Put out lots of food, put on a good scary movie or two and have your child’s guests take part in these two pyjama party games for a great fun filled time.

You would not let your children go out on their own without first warning them about the dangers of speaking with strangers, so why would you let them surf the net without supervision? You should have a frank discussion of internet safety tips for kids with your children at least once, and more often if you think it is necessary.
Children need to be aware of what they should and should not do when they use the computer, so you should advise them of these internet safety tips for kids:
• Never give your personal information to anyone, especially your real name, age, where you live or your phone number. If someone asks for this information, tell a parent immediately.
• Never agree to a meeting in person with someone you met online. If they insist on it, tell your parents. You should never agree to such a meeting unless your parents approve and will be there.
• Never post photos of yourself online and never send a photo to someone you do not know. If someone is asking for a photo, tell your parents.
• Never sign up for any website or pay for anything without asking your parents. If you need an email account or to sign up for a website, do not use your real name or any personal information as your user name.
• Never give anyone your passwords or user name to any of your accounts.
• Never tell anyone you chat with online if you are home alone or when you will be home alone.
• Never answer emails from strangers.
• If you are chatting with someone and you feel uncomfortable about the direction the conversation is taking, tell a parent immediately.
As a parent, you should discuss internet safety tips for kids so that they know of the dangers that await them online and how they can avoid becoming a victim. You could also use a keylogger to make sure your kids are safe online. Using a keylogger will allow you to secretly view everything thats been going on on the childs computer without them actually knowing – including e-mail, chat and the websites visited.
Confused about what sort of keylogger you should go for? There’s a lot to choose from on the internet. Some are great but some, of course, should be avoided. ‘Keylogger Downloads’ is a website that helps with this, comparing keyloggers side bt side in an easy to read format.
