 Save your
pennies and enjoy this indulgent dessert of dumplings
bathing in sweet syrup.
Preparation Time 20 minutes
Cooking Time 20 minutes
Ingredients (serves 4)
1 x 375g pkt scone dough mix
200ml milk
500ml (2 cups) water
125ml (1/2 cup) golden syrup
100g (1/2 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
50g butter
Thickened cream, to serve
Method
Prepare the dough mix using the milk, following packet
directions. Knead gently. Divide the dough into 16 equal
portions.
Place the water, golden syrup, sugar and butter in a large
saucepan and stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves
and the butter melts.
Increase heat to medium and bring to a simmer. Carefully
drop the dough portions into the syrup. Cook, covered, for
20-25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the dumplings
comes out clean.
Divide the dumplings among serving bowls. Pour over the
syrup and top with the cream. Serve immediately.
