Pet Rocks

What You Need:

- Smooth creek or river bed rocks
- Paints or collage materials for decorations

What To Do:

We often have picnics near creeks or river banks covered with lovely smooth rocks.  Help your children select a rock to bring home for a 'pet'.  Younger children will be especially enchanted with this idea.

At home your children can characterize their pet rock with a painted face or use collage materials glued on - perhaps some wool for hair, a button for his nose, a ric-rac braid mouth and so on.

It makes a great paper weight and the easiest pet to look after.
