Flying Saucers

Make some exciting Flying Saucers to fly in the garden with the children. See whose Flying Saucer will fly the greatest distance.

What You Need:

- Paper plates
- Paper cups
- Scissors
- Sticky tape or masking tape
- Felt pens

What To Do:

Begin by helping the children cut the paper cups in half. Keep the bottom part and cut small slits along the top edge and then bend them out to make flaps. Put the cup with the flaps down onto the paper plate and fasten with pieces of sticky tape or masking tape. Finally, help the children cut flaps around the outside of the plate. Fold each flap alternately forwards or backwards. These flaps will help the flying saucer fly.

Your children will enjoy using felt pens to draw windows and doors on their flying saucers, or buy a can of silver spray paint and spray them silver to look really hi-tech.

Go out at night sky-watching and see if you can really spot some alien visitors!
